BYS Midwifery believes pregnant women deserve care from a known and trusted midwife. BYS midwifery also believes in the positive impact of a midwife's presence throughout a pregnancy and birth journey. The benefits of midwifery care from a known midwife during pregnancy, labour, birth, and following the birth are numerous and well documented:
Benefits of Care by a Known Midwife:
More likely to have a normal birth
More likely to feel in control during labour and birth
More likely to commence breastfeeding earlier
Less likely to need an epidural or medication for pain relief
Less likely to have an instrumental birth or caesarean section
