BYS Midwifery believes in the positive impact of a midwife's presence throughout a pregnancy and birth journey. We create a safe and inclusive environment to learn and to share. Expecting mothers and new parents can expect a quality and empathetic level of professional care.

Antenatal Care

Care throughout the pregnancy


Includes  

Health assessment of mother and baby in pregnancy at home

  • Ordering of blood tests and ultrasound scans

  • Prescription of medicines

  • Referral to other health practitioners (General Practice/Obstetrician, Dietitian/Diabetes Educator, Physiotherapist) if required.

Rhonda's antenatal home visits are generally an hour long. Typically, Rhonda visits monthly until 28 weeks, fortnightly until 36 weeks and weekly until the birth.

Labour and Birth Care

Attending your birth at home or in hospital


Includes  

  • Home Birth: present for both labour and birth, with a second midwife present at the birth.

  • Home Labour & Hospital Birth: combination of at home and hospital care and support.

BYS midwifery will provide continuous one-to-one professional and emotional support once your labour is established and ongoing assessment of you and your baby throughout the entire birth journey. 

Any changes to your plan for labour and birth will be discussed openly with you and your partner to facilitate your informed decision-making.

Postnatal

Postnatal & afterbirth Care


Includes  

  • Postnatal care for up to 6 weeks

  • Health assessment and care of mother and baby in the hospital and at home

  • Newborn Hearing Screening arranged at the hospital

  • Breastfeeding support and education

  • Assistance with caring for your newborn baby

  • Referral to the area Child Health Nurse

After birth, your parenting journey is only just beginning. We will be there to help nurture you through the first stages, and answer any questions which may arise.
